    Futaba G501 together with FC-28

    Hi everybody,

I have a problem that I hope someone kan help me with.

On my FC-28 there are a slider for the gyrochanel (nr. 5) but I would like not to use it. Instead I want gyrosense/gain to change when changing flightmode by use of for example PMX. I know that on other Futaba radios like 9Z it is posible to inhibit the switch for chanel 5 in the FNC menue but it´s not on the FC-28.

Hope you understand my problem and that someone knows how to fix it.

    Best regards
    /Christian

Why you take the PMX to change the flight mode??

Sorry, but i doesnt understand what you mean!!

I don´t use PMX to change flightmode - that I do in the usual way with switches.

What I would like to is:
        - Automaticly change gyrogain when changing flight mode.
        - Inhibit/not use the slider for gyro channel nr 5.
        - If possible, have HI and LO settings for every flight mode.

For the moment I am using an old G501 gyro but I don´t thing this to be the problem. My problem is with the TX. So, as long as there are a gain channel on the gyro I think it is possible to change it from the TX.

Hope this clarify my problem and thanks for any help in advance.

                Hi Chris!

The simplest way to fix the value of ch5 for gainsence is to fix at ATV the lo and the high value to the same as the middle is. So you have a horizontal line on the display. The slider is out of function.
If you switch to the other flight mode decrease or increase the 3 values.
Look in the desciption of the FC28 programming a GV-1 governor. Is the same procedure.

The way Thomas explained how to change gyro gain when changing flight mode worked perfect until I got my new GY502. It need to be started up in NOR mode but since I start my heli and hover in normal flight mode I whant to start the gyro i´n AVC mode with high gain.

I solved the problem by assigning chanel 8 to gyrochanel 5, that is, in FUNC menu I changed gyrochanel from 5 to 8. Now the slider is inhibited and instead the chanel 8´s 3-position switch controls the gyro gain. Now i can have 3 different gain settings for every flight mode by setting the ATV for chanel 5 to different values in HI, LO and CENTRE.

I have now set up HI (AVC 30%), CENTRE (AVC 10%) and LO (NOR 30%). The % are read on the amplifier and not on the TX. Maybe U think the values are low but I´m using a Hitec 925MG servo and not the better suited S9253.

I think this solution can work on other TX as well. Maybe some of U already figured this out but I´m happy anyway and just whanted to share some info.

                    Good luck...

Another simple solution - as long as u want to stick to not using CH8 - is, to assign ATV to the NOR position in the FC28 and set a programmable Mixer in the appropriate flight phase. U can use PMX1 and assign a constant mixing value to your flight phase. So u can assign different values for each idle and autorot.

The fc28 is very flexible in assigning functions and mixers.

                      happy landings
