Good news is that TP3200 series will be prewire for balancing, to be release arround December 16.
Check our website for more info: thunderpower-batteries.com
und info von Gary Goodrum, reseller of Thunderpower-packs :
What we ALL have learned is that just about all of the 10-12C cells on the market, the TP gen2s included, will eventually go out-of-balance if they are subjected to multiple high load "burst" currents, like we see in helis all the time. What I've found is that you can run our packs, at least, at close to their max continuous "C" rating for lots of cycles and they stay pretty balanced. I've seen, and tested such packs that were use in airplanes. I took one of those in a "simulated" heli environment (average discharge rate of about 6C, but with many "bursts" to 15C...) and the cells started to go out of balance rather quickly. What was causing Charlie to initially resist was the fact that the original gen1 cells almost never go out-of-balance, seemingly no matter how hard they are pushed. Packs with 500 cycles have cells that are still within .005V of each other, or less sometimes. The gen2s come from a different manufacturer. To further confuse the issue, early tooling problems often masked this issue further. Now that it became a lot clearer what was happening, Charlie dusted off his advanced 5-cell balancer design, with multiple programmable parameters, and got it into test and production. These will be available next month and will sell for $69.95.

To go with that, a new connector will be added to each pack. The smaller ones will get a 4-pin version, and the larger packs will have a 6-pin unit. Both types will plug into the same receptacle on the balancer. There will be a retrofit program to put these connectors on existing packs, for a nominal fee.

The "g2-lites" come from the original gen1 supplier, and so far, they seem to share the gen1's ability to stay balanced. We have many packs we're using in all our testing and I haven't found one that is not still balanced. Nonetheless, the 4000, 6000 and 8000 lite packs will eventually get the connectors as well, but mainly so that a crashed pack might be repaired. After a pack is repaired the balancer can then be used from that point forward to keep the cells to within .01V of each other, which is the tolerance level of the electronics. Retrofit of existing lite packs is not necessary until repair is actually needed. The connector can be installed during the repair.

As for your 3s2p-4200. 60A peaks are not really a problem, but it will eventually be one, I think. If it hasn't been used yet, you can alway send it to me and I'll swap it for one with a connector. Send me a PM if you want to go this route.
