Belt Tensioning System - additional bearing supplied

    Hi

I have five bearings supplied in my kit with the belt tensioning parts.

Do I need this extra one?

Has anything changed with how this system is now assembled?

On some Diabolos (including mine) the belt temporarily slips from the two bearings during certain maneuvers. You will hear an annoying ratteling sound when this happens since the belt is then pressed against one side of the frontal belt gear.
My first try to prevent this was to add discs next to the bearings - I attached a picture of my first prototype using plastic discs, which didn't work well, since the belt basically cut off the relevant part of the disc after two flights as you can see. I talked to Gerd then and he suggested to use an additional bearing to prevent the slippage. Since then I am using three bearings instead of two and it works quite well, although I have to tighten the belt a lot to _completely_ get rid of the ratteling. Seems that the third bearing is now part of the kit.
I guess it is not necessary, since the majority does not need it - probably it is due to the tolerances in belt production that it sometimes happens.

BTW, the maneuver is: Fly an inverted backwards speed circle (clockwise) and let the tail drop to make it a funnel. If you fly fast and at a high angle and nothing happens, you are good, if not, use the third bearing.

PS: "Wall" works also well as a test...

Thanks for the information. As I have it here as part of the kit I'll get the third bearing mounted anyway and try it out.
